Jaymz Bee’s Royal Jelly Orchestra

“It Was A Very Good Year”

Jaymz Bee is happy to present a rare showcase of talent from the Royal Jelly Orchestra (RJO).  The band rarely does public shows, so this will highlight the songs and acts performed from the various private parties, corporate events and charity galas they've done in 2008 because “It Was A Very Good Year” indeed.

As co-host of Benmergui In The Morning (weekdays 6-10am) and host of “Jazz In The City” (Saturdays 6-8pm) on JAZZ.FM91 and (www.jazz.fm), Jaymz Bee is knee deep in jazz. When not on radio Jaymz hosts a club crawl called The Jazz Safari™ which has been a major fundraising tool for JAZZ.FM91 for the past four years. He also produces records for his Timely Manor label and can be found promoting events and emceeing charity galas. Despite having a full schedule, Jaymz still manages to book his band about twenty private shows a year. Jaymz has booked a night in Oshawa at The Regent Theatre on Saturday November 22nd presented by The Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival & Regent Theatre www.regenttheatre.ca along with the Diesel show which is a rare chance to catch some of Canada’s greatest musicians and singers in a theatre setting.

The RJO was formed in 1985 for a special concert at Ontario Place Forum. Since that time The RJO have released eight CD’s and played hundreds of concerts in ballrooms and nightclubs; outdoor festivals and soft-seat theatres.  Under the direction of Dora Award winner Waylen Miki on piano, the band also features Juno winners Richard Underhill (alto sax) Christopher Plock (tenor sax) and Tony Quarrington (guitar). Rounding out the line-up are some of Canada’s finest session players, who also lead their own bands: Artie Roth (bass) Glenn Anderson (drums) William Carn (trombone) and Howard Moore (trumpet).

The RJO features both established vocalists and new rising stars. In the early years, singers such as Michael Buble, Sophie Milman and DK Ibomeka would sing with the band. The evening will be filled with surprises and all musicians and singers participating in this wonderful night will be available after the show to sign CDs made available for purchase.

Tickets $20 Advance / $25 at the door and $50 for reception and show

Featuring: Heather Bambrick, June Garber, Michael Danso, Julie Michels, Christopher Plock, Terra Hazelton, Big Rude Jake, Sophia Perlman and Stephanie Welton.
